India perishes in Perth, another nail in the coffin

Australia Win the 3rd Test match Vs India at Perth

Indian saga of humiliation continues as India loses their 3rd straight test match against Australia in Perth. With this win Australia has won the series and India continue to dream to win a test match overseas. For the record this is Indian cricket teams 7th consecutive loss in test matches played overseas.

This loss can easily be termed as the worst of the defeats for touring Indian team. Not only did India loose by an innings and 37 runs but also the match was wrapped up on the 3rd Day of the 5 day test match. Just imagine how pathetic the Indian performance has been, to lose 20 wickets in less than 7 sessions.

It was good to see Kohli trying his best however it was not enough to save India from shying away from defeat. It was a good effort by Virat Kohli he scored 44 runs and 75 run(s) in 1st & 2nd innings respectively. Although it may not be an impressive performance compared to the ones played by likes of Warner, Ponting and Clarke of Australia in the ongoing test series. It was the best batting performance by an Indian batsman in this match.  Barring a few most of the Indian batsmen struggled to even score 20+ run(s) in this match.

Poor performances by Indian batsmen

The likes of Laxman, Sachin and Dravid have failed to deliver despite their years of experience and excellent records which are immaterial when you have lost the match. Guess the wall is crumbling or maybe there is now a gate in the wall considering Dravid has been bowled 5 out of 6 times in this series and he now holds the record for the most number of bowled dismissals in Tests. Reports in media suggest VVS may’ve played his last Test. Sachin and his elusive 100th hundred is all that makes news about him.

Viru ( Sehwag) and Gambhir too have failed to deliver when it mattered the most. Its time people start looking beyond and start getting young blood in the team. There are some serious questions being raised now about Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy and his tactics. Guess this lad who made a charismatic entry into Indian team and quickly climbed the ladder to become one of the youngest captains in Indian cricketing history has lost what everyone called the Midas touch.

A snap shot of the score card of the match for the ones who love numbers is as below;

1st Innings
INDIA: 161/10 (60.2) RR: 2.66
AUSTRALIA: 369/10 (76.2) RR: 4.83

2nd Innings
INDIA: 171/10 (63.2) RR: 2.70

Result: Australia won by an innings and 37 runs

Man of The Match: David Warner [For his splendid knock of 180 run(s) of 159 balls with 20 (4’s) and 5 (6’s)]
