England Lose and They Lose it Big!

England Vs Pakistan 1st  Test

The current number one ranked team in test cricket, England lost by 10 wickets against Pakistan. Pakistan is now leading the 3 test match series in Dubai handing 1-0. It is a fantastic victory for Pakistan coming right at the beginning of the year.

English team failed miserably as they failed to score runs by getting out for less than 200 run(s) in both the innings. Pakistan on the other hand played incredible cricket. They fared well in both batting and bowling department. They were successful in winning the match with two days to spare.

The English Collapse

The first innings collapse of England was attributed to Saeed Ajmal’s excellent bowling with figuresof 7/53. In England’s second innings it was Umar Gul who was the chief destructor for Pakistan with an impressive 4/63. Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman picked 3 wickets each in England’s second innings. England was all out 160 run(s) in their second innings having played just 57.5 over(s).

It was sad to see none of the English batsmen putting up a fight. Kevin Pietersen got out for a duck. Most of the top order batsmen ended with single digit score. Jonathan Trott’s 49 runs (off 111 balls) were the highest by score by any English batsmen in their second innings. Pakistani bowlers simply ran through the much famed English batting line up easily. Wickets kept tumbling one after the other.

Pakistan scored the required 15 runs in 3.4 over(s) without losing any wickets in the second innings. Thereby Pakistan won the match by 10 wicket(s) it was a thumping victory for Pakistan. Interestingly this is England’s first defeat in 10 Test matches, since their last loss against Australia which was at Perth in 2010.

Saeed Ajmal who picked 10 wickets in all in the match was rightly named the man of the match.
